Sophie joined the lab as an M.D. student in 2020. Her thesis work focuses on the gut-brain axis and how non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation may alter the communication between the stomach and the brain via vagal afferents. Moreover, she is working as a student research assistant, mainly as the go-to problem solver for all sorts of experimental issues. Since 2016, Sophie is studying medicine and she will start her practical year in 2022. In addition to her vast knowledge of physiology, she is a distinguished expert in arts & crafts and an aspiring baker. As our junior art director, Sophie takes headshots of the people in the lab or other scenic pictures (favorite target: plants).
